As a result to monetary donations raised by the Saladmaster organization, construction for a multi-purpose hall has commenced in the Saladmaster Village in Pototan, Iloilo, Philippines. This hall will serve as the venue for the village’s religious gatherings, recreational events and other necessary meetings as well as the temporary educational center for the children living in the village. Also, a permanent entrance gate and perimeter fence for the village is in development, which will provide a safe environment for all members of the community.
Supplies and materials for these on-going developments began to arrive on site several days before the start date of construction, planned for Sunday, July 29. Youth and other volunteers will come together in a spirit of communal unity to make these projects possible.
With every advancement in the Salad master Village – made possible through the efforts of the Saladmaster organization and Gawad Kalinga (GK) and its volunteers – we come one step closer to GK’s vision of a slum-free, squatter-free nation built on dignity, peace and hope.
